Contemporary Illuminated Manuscripts

I am an artist specializing in authentic, original paintings and calligraphy in the early Medieval, Celtic tradition. As a traditionally trained artist, my focus is on high quality, exquisitely crafted artworks that have a timeless appeal.
My work is inspired by early Medieval art and late Bronze Age/ early Iron Age art. Together, these traditions are commonly known as Celtic art.
The Book of Kells and the Lindisfarne Gospels are the most celebrated examples of this style. In 2004, I completed an illuminated manuscript of the Gospel of Thomas after the style of these manuscripts.
All of the paintings that you will see in the galleries are unique. Every painting is designed using the fundamental principles of sacred geometry. The under-drawings are rather abstract in their strong, geometric structure. The softer, curvilinear motifs are then built up on top of the geometry, layer upon layer.
Genuine illuminated manuscript pages from the early Medieval period rarely come up for sale. These paintings offer the opportunity to acquire a contemporary illuminated page or manuscript that is a continuation of the great Medieval craft tradition.

I can also provide hand finished reproduction, giclée prints, with prices starting from about £20.
